2016-2021 Strategic Plan

This five-year strategic plan has been developed to guide the American Leadership Forum’s activities in the Houston/Gulf Coast region to carry out the mission of joining and strengthening diverse leaders to serve the common good.  At the inception, Sharon Murphy (Class XXIII), American Leadership Forum’s Board Chair, challenged the Trustees to envision a state-of the art civic leadership organization.  This planning process began at a board retreat where Trustees were tasked with developing a vision for the future.  A strategic planning committee comprised of members of the board and a diverse cross-section of Senior Fellows developed and articulated this vision.

The strategic planning committee’s recommendations resulted in the board’s decision to focus on four priority areas:

  1. Expand and enhance programming
  2. Achieve recognition as the premier community leadership program
  3. Increase engagement and participation of Senior Fellows in the program
  4. Garner necessary resources to achieve envisioned growth

At the conclusion of this work, a Strategic Plan was produced for 2016-21 which was adopted by the Board of Trustees in May of 2016.  We are pleased to share this plan with you.
