  • Matthew Hilk is the Vice President of News and Managing Editor of CNN/U.S. He directs reporting pursuits and the editorial focus on top domestic stories across all platforms, while also overseeing the Southeast region, including the Atlanta and Miami bureaus, CNN Health and CNN Weather.

    During his tenure at CNN, Hilk led reporting teams through multiple breaking news stories, including the border and immigration crisis, the mass shootings in El Paso, Dayton and Pittsburgh, and Hurricanes Dorian, Michael and Florence.

    Hilk joined CNN as senior broadcast producer for The Lead with Jake Tapper based in Washington, D.C. He previously served as news director and news manager at NBC and ABC affiliates in the Nashville, Tenn., Pittsburgh and Birmingham, Ala. markets and led newsrooms to win the National Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence and the Emmy for News Excellence.

    Hilk holds a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania.
