Basic Information

Introduction

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer Battle Royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporations. Released in December 2018, the PS4 version unfortunately suffers with the same issues that have plagued its XBOX counterpart since its initial release.

In terms of trophies, it is exactly what you would expect of a game from this genre. Get X number of kills with this weapon, X number of wins in this mode, and X number of kills overall. All in all, pretty standard stuff. Compared to other Battle Royales such as H1Z1 and Apex Legends, the trophies in PUBG are slightly more difficult to obtain. As PUBG isn't F2P, the percentage of hardcore players in each game is noticeably much higher, thus making a few of the trophies a little bit more difficult to obtain.

For your average player (meaning those that average maybe one or two kills per game) you are looking at around 100 hours minimum. Your hardcore Battle Royale fan can definitely mop up this list in 75 - 100 hours, but any less than that would be highly unlikely.

What Registers As a Kill

In order to earn the platinum, you will need to amass a grand total of 1000 kills along the way. It is worth noting that some actions register as a kill, whereas others don't. It goes without saying that all kills in the solo playlist are registered as your kills, irregardless of how you kill them or what you use to do so. The issue lies within the Duo and Squad game modes.

What DOES register as a kill:
  • If you down an enemy and finish him off.
  • If you down an enemy and your teammate finishes him off.

What DOES NOT register as a kill:
  • If you down an enemy and a member of an opposition team finishes him off.
  • If your teammate downs an enemy and you finish him off.

Finishing off downed enemies with a specific weapon is a great way to grind out some of the more tedious trophies. The best game mode to do this in would be 1-Man-Squad, as you won't be placed with any teammates that could potentially finish off the downed enemy. The only problem with 1-Man-Squad is that you can often run into a full squad face on, which will more than likely end in death.

Glitched Trophies

PUBG has been ridden with glitched trophies ever since the game first released on PS4. In an attempt to fix this, a hotfix was released shortly after the game launched. However, some players are still reporting that a few trophies aren't unlocking for them once they have fulfilled the requirements, with the most notorious culprit being Gold Master Assassin. It isn't known what causes this trophy to glitch, but it is best to play all of your matches on one server in order to minimise the risk of it not unlocking for you.

It is also worth specifying that the trophies are glitched, not unobtainable. If a trophy doesn't unlock once you have met its requirements, keep trying and it will eventually unlock. In a few extreme cases, some players have had to amass well over 3000 kills in order to earn Gold Master Assassin.

Furthermore, some trophies are positively glitched. Bronze Marksman Novice, Bronze Marksman Expert and Silver Marksman Master are all glitched in a good way. Under normal circumstances, Silver Marksman Master would be one the longest trophies in the game, as it is pretty rare to earn a kill from over 100 meters away. Any kill with an Assault Rifle counts towards this trophy, regardless of the distance at which you kill them from. There is a possibility that this could get patched in a future update, so it is best to take advantage of it as soon as possible.

Weapons, Attachments, and Consumables

There are a large number of weapons in PUBG, with each type of weapon spawning at different rates. The most powerful weapons, the Sniper Rifles and LMG's, are generally difficult to find. Some of those are also entirely exclusive to airdrops, with the AWM (Sniper Rifle) being only one example. Your basic weapons, those being the SMG's, AR's, and Shotguns, will all commonly spawn around the map. Some of these basic weapons are actually extremely good. If you manage to locate a M4A1 or a Vector, then you probably won't want to risk your life for an airdrop. Both of those weapons are good enough in order to aid you to victory. Then you have your less common weapon, the Sniper Rifle. The Kar98k and M24 are almost exclusively situated in the hotspots. The hotspots always contain the highest value loot, which is why they're always super active at the start of the match. If you can hold your own in terms of gun-fights, then it's definitely worth dropping off the plane at some of the busiest locations in order to grab some of the premium loot.

The attachments in PUBG can make all the difference during a gunfight. For any close combat engagement, you're going to need to keep an eye out for a; Compensator, Extended Mag, Flash Hider, Suppressor, Angled Foregrip, Laser Sight, and a Tactical Stock. These attachments are crucial in terms of giving you the edge when competing in those close quarter engagements. For any long distance engagement, all of the previously listed items will prove to be beneficial. However, the most important attachment will be the scope. You can find 2x, 3x, 4x, and 6x scopes quite regularly around the map. You can also find the 8x scope around the map, but it is most commonly found in an airdrop.

Consumables are a class of items within PUBG, and they can commonly be found on every map. Each one has their own perks, either by increasing your health or by increasing your boost. The Adrenaline Syringe, Painkiller, and Energy Drink are all known as boosts. They each increase your overall boost, which overtime, enables you to gain any health that you have lost. The First Aid Kit, Med Kit, and Bandage are all forms of health. They only increase your health and have no effect on your overall boost.

This trophy is extremely buggy and may not unlock once you have acquired 10 wins. If this happens to you, you will have to keep accumulating wins until it eventually pops. No one knows for sure what causes this glitch, but in order to minimise the risk of it not unlocking, always play on the same server.

This will be one of the very last trophies that you will obtain. Providing you have won at least one game on each of the three modes, and therefore unlocked their corresponding trophies, you should only need seven more wins. Squads is generally considered to be the best game mode to rack up wins, as you statistically have a better chance at winning when compared to Solos and Duos. In terms of probability, you would have a 1% chance of winning a Solos match, 2% chance of winning a Duos match, and a 4% chance of winning a Squads match. Of course, it is extremely dependent on individual ability, so stick to whatever game mode you feel most comfortable with.

Note: It is entirely possible to boost this trophy. All you will need is one boosting partner or a second console. In order to boost this, you will need to search in the FPP mode. It takes a few minutes to load into a match, but only two players are required in order to start. There are occasionally one or two other players in this mode, but they all tend to be extremely new to the game and incredibly bad. If you aren't confident in beating them, keep searching until it is only you and your boosting partner. Then the person that is going to lose can suicide at the start.

Here is the most skill based trophy in the entire game. For those that are familiar with other games in the genre, this shouldn't be too much of an issue. But this trophy could be an absolute nightmare for those that are new to the genre. You will have to beat 99 other players in order to take home the Chicken Dinner.

Here are a few tips in order to improve your performance:
  • Turn your Controller Button Preset to 'Type B'. This is the recommended preset for those that have a decent amount of FPS experience.
  • Stock up on Frag Grenades. These will prove to be crucial when you get to the later stages of the game as you can force enemies out from behind their cover.
  • Stock up on Smoke Grenades. These can get you out of some sticky situations, particularly when you are surrounded by a large number of enemies.
  • Look out for airdrops. The airdrops will contain the highest available loot (Level 3), and will give you a much needed advantage when you engage in any gunfight.
  • Always refill your boost. Towards the later stages of the match, always refill your boost gauge by popping a painkiller or downing an energy drink. You don't want to be forced to pop a painkiller when you have an enemy firing at you.
  • Gain the upper ground. There is nothing worse than being in a final circle with someone that has the higher ground. Always try to remain higher up in order to have a strategical advantage.

This is the second easiest of the win based trophies, as you will be placed with one teammate. Unlike Squads, it is much easier for one experienced player to single handidly carry the team to victory. If you don't have any friends to partner up with, feel free to head over the the Gaming Sessions section of the site.

Here are a few tips in order to improve your performance:
  • Communicate. It would be preferable to play with a group of people that all use mics. Give call-outs, ask for loot, and have a great time.
  • Revive each other. Once your teammate goes down, try your best to revive him before he gets finished. Throw a smoke grenade if necessary in order to remain hidden.
  • Stick together. There's no need to separate from each other. If you do, and one person goes down, you probably won't be able to get the revive.

This trophy can be obtained in any game mode, but it is easier to do in either Duos or Squads. It doesn't matter if your teammates get kills, it's only you that has to reach the top 10 without killing anyone. The main tactic here would be to stay away from the active areas. Land at a reclusive location, gear up, and remain on the outside of the circle. There's no need to venture into the inner circle as you will more than likely come into contact with an enemy. Use bushes and other environments in order to remain hidden, allowing you to easily obtain this trophy. Furthermore, a car will be preferable as you can make a quick getaway from any enemies that head your way.

This trophy will take a considerable amount of time. In order to aid this process, it'll be best to hunt down the 4x, 6x, and 8x scopes. 100 meters is quite a far distance in PUBG, so a scope would be preferable in order to make life easier. No one knows for sure what causes this glitch, but in order to minimise the risk of it not unlocking, always play on the same server.

This is it, the longest trophy in the game. For you average player, this will take somewhere in the region of 750-1000 matches to obtain. In terms of time, you're looking at a solid 100+ hours. In order to speed up this process, stick to Sanhok. Although Erangel and Vikendi are pretty decent maps, you can't select them individually, so you could potentially end up with Miramar (which would be horrendous for this trophy). Also make sure that you always land at the Bloodcamp. If you are a decent player, you can certainly obtain one or two kills within a minute of landing.

Another option, although painfully boring, is to farm kills on AFK players. If you choose to use this method, wait until you automatically get booted out of the plane, then keep an eye on the whereabouts of the players that aren't playing. See where they land, find a weapon, then head over and claim your kill(s).

No matter what method you choose to obtain this trophy, it certainly won't be a quick one.

NOTE: This trophy can be a little buggy and may not unlock once you have met its requirements.

Firstly, the only weapons that count towards this trophy are the AWM, M24, Kar98k, and the Winchester 94. The VSS and crossbow do not count towards this trophy. In terms of game mode, it is best to do this while you're playing solo, as the enemy will die instantly. If you choose to play Duos or Squads, then there's a chance that you may only down the enemy. However, if you do decide to play Duos or Squads, getting a headshot on an enemy you have downed will count.

Secondly, Sniper Rifles can be pretty tricky to find if you don't know where to look. As they are extremely powerful weapons, they are typically found in the hotspots. Examples of a hotspot can be the School in Erangel, and Bloodcamp in Sanhok. They're generally the areas that are looted instantaneously. Also, keep an eye out for scopes. Some of the default sights can prove to be a little troublesome when aiming for the head.

Play either Duos or Squads, find a vehicle and then proceed to search for a lone enemy. You must be the person that has downed the enemy in order for it to count. If you finish off someone after your teammate has downed them, it will not count towards this trophy.

All player's have the ability to customise their character, with one option being in the form of an outfit. Once you have killed an enemy, head over to his loot and check if he was wearing an outfit. If he was, wear his entire outfit in order to earn the trophy.

This will also work if you wear the outfit of a player that someone else killed.
Cruising with the Enemy
Get into a vehicle with an enemy player.

Bronze
This is a rather random trophy to obtain. The best way to go about this, at least without boosting, is to hide by a car and wait for an enemy to get into it. At that point, quickly get into the vehicle with the enemy in order to earn the trophy.

However, due to the unlikeness of this ever happening during normal play, it may be best to go ahead and boost this one.

In order to earn this trophy you must max out your boost gauge. This can be done in a couple of ways. The first, and most easiest, would be with an Adrenaline Syringe. This adds 100% to your boost gauge, and will instantly net you the trophy. The other way is with either an Energy Drink or Painkiller, or even both. The Painkiller adds 60% to your boost gauge, and the Energy Drink adds 40%. Any combination that adds up to 100% is satisfactory.
