Memories are collections of some of your best photos and videos whether from previous years or recent weeks. Memories are available on Android devices, iPhones, and iPads.
View your Memories
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Photos app .
- At the bottom, tap Photos.
- At the top, tap a memory.

To move to the next or previous photo, tap on the right or left of the screen.

To skip to the next or previous memory, swipe right or left on the screen

To pause on a photo, touch and hold it.

Change your settings
Control which Memories you receive
You can select the types of Memories you want to see above your photo grid. The Memories carousel above the photo grid only appears when at least one memory type is selected.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Photos app .
- At the top right, tap your account profile photo or initial Photos settings Memories.
- Tap Featured memories.
- Select the types of memories you want to see.
Hide someone
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Photos app .
- At the top right, tap your account profile photo or initial Photos settings Memories.
- Tap Hide people & pets.
- Choose who you want to hide.
To show someone, tap their face again.
Hide a date
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Photos app .
- At the top right, tap your account profile photo or initial Photos settings Memories.
- Tap Hide dates.
- Add dates you want to hide.
To remove a hidden date, tap Remove .
Control whether your Memories contain creations
You can select which types of creations should be shown in your memories.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Photos app .
- At the top right, tap your account profile photo or initial Photos settings Memories.
- Tap Advanced.
- Select which types of creations you want to be shown in your memories.
Manage your Memories notifications
You control what notifications to receive when there is a new memory, or a new creation available to view.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Photos app .
- At the top right, tap your account profile photo or initial Photos settings Memories.
- Tap Manage memories notifications.
- Under Memories, turn on/off the toggle to receive Memories from previous years, themed memories or creations.
Creations
Creations made for you will arrive in your Memories carousel. You may see a color pop appear in Recent highlights or a They grow up so fast movie as a standalone memory. You can also make your own creations such as a collage, animation or movie.
Check if something was created for you
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Photos app .
- At the bottom, tap Photos.
- Creations will arrive in your Memories carousel at the top.
Save Creations
You can save things that are created for you like movies or animations.
To save creations from your Memories carousel, select “Save” at the bottom of the creation. Saved creations will appear in your photos view.
Find creations you saved:
- On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Photos .
- Saved creations will appear in your Photos tab, with all of your other photos and videos.
- You can also search for creations you saved.
- At the bottom, tap Search.
- At the bottom, look for "Creations" and tap the type of creation you want, or tap All creations.
Make Creations
You can make your own collage, animation, or movie from your photos and videos.
To make your own creation:
- On your Android phone or tablet, open Google Photos.
- At the bottom, tap Library Utilities.
- At the bottom, find options to create an Animation, Collage, or Movie.
