Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM) is a Bible-based, voluntary medical cost sharing ministry. CHM members have shared nearly $5 billion in medical costs.
CHM is an eligible option for individuals under the U.S. Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). This information can be found under 26 U.S.C. §5000A(d)(2)(B)(ii); p. 128.
CHM has worked with more than 100,000 healthcare providers. CHM members may receive treatment from any facility or physician that meets accepted standards of care as long as the treatment is within CHM Guidelines.
You don’t need to seek approval or permission from CHM to treat your patient. All medical decisions are made by the doctor and the patient.
Your patient’s membership in CHM means less paperwork for you (patients should be billed directly) and fewer overhead costs because you don’t need the services of a billing specialist.
The only item our member needs from you is an itemized medical bill. Please note that itemized bills must include the following information:
Members are self-pay patients that we ask receive consideration in pricing and discounts.
Christian Healthcare Ministries is secondary to other potential payment sources, after which bills are presented for sharing to the CHM membership. This process can take 70-85 days but may be considerably shorter if you offer a significant discount. Eligibility for medical bill sharing is pre-determined by CHM Guidelines. Provider references are available. Please bill patients directly.
We encourage our member—your patient—to follow these steps:

Dr. Ryan has been practicing medicine for 24 years now. He and his wife, Jonna, built The Physician’s Practice from the ground up, believing that a direct primary care system was the best way they could serve the community around them. When they found CHM, they knew that CHM’s similar goals and values made the ministry the perfect healthcare partner. Then, the unexpected happened: Jonna was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In this video, learn a doctor’s thoughts on CHM and see how CHM members helped share over $180,000 in cancer medical bills for Jonna.
