Erdoğan routinely calls critics of his policies “terrorists” and has the police harass them. In calling a critic of public school policies a “domestic terrorist” and handing the case to the FBI, the US is resorting to Erdoğan’s playbook. Chilling.

They took the father of a girl who'd been raped at school and turned him into the public face of "domestic terrorism" because he protested school policy. School seems to admit it here, saying their records match father's claims. Just evil stuff.

Sally Rooney’s novels are available in Chinese and Russian. Doesn’t she care about the Uighurs? Or Putin-defying journalists? To judge Israel by a different standard than the rest of the world is antisemitism. h/t

Oh look - Irish writer Sally Rooney won’t allow her latest novel to be translated into Hebrew - the language that Jews around the world pray in and can read and speak to varying degrees. Because of Israel or something. Not antisemitism.

Truly creepy. Cops showing up because you were in one kind of political protest (and not another) six months ago is now happening in the West. Soviet style “democracy.”
