Best take yet on the Joy Reid / Musk / Karen affair.

Claiming ownership of calling people ‘Karen’ isn’t something to be proud about, especially not as a racial “contribution” to popular culture.

Our ultimate aspiration is toward a world in which, in 's words, we "treat people like human beings, not political abstractions."
Only by honoring the *true diversity* of the thoughts entertained by people racialized as "black" can we reach that longed-for world.

One might wish someday to stop characterizing any thought as "black," but we do it strategically now in order to fight the deeply ideological and, sadly, hegemonic narrative about the "essential nature" of dark-skinned, African-descended people that's being pushed so hard.

Why Free "BLACK" Thought?
It's a rhetorical & strategic rather than metaphysical choice.
"Blackness" is today tendentiously essentialized as inherently a matter of *these* beliefs vs *those* beliefs.
Ours is a countervailing rhetoric, saying this *too* is "black" thought.

Tremendously insightful thread about the way "generational resentment" is passed from minority parent to minority child, such that children "inherit the wound," as we've heard style it.
Quote Tweet
i was unaware that this man was capable of producing measured tweets; finally, an illuminating point. generational resentment is the memento minority children are imposingly programmed with. twitter.com/GodCloseMyEyes…
