  5. Beautiful. The Gettysburg address is great to teach with the Declaration of Independence. It’s the check on those promises - were they kept? No. Emily Dickinson is great to pair with Whitman - and then you’re on a rocket ship up Langston Hughs: “I, too, sing America.”
