NOTE: If you are familiar with school mode from the first Danganronpa game: Most of this will be just a review for you. Everything from trip tickets to Trigger Happy Heart (although it's called Shot Through the Heart) is the same and you only need to refer to the chart at the bottom. Keep in mind that you still need to get all hope fragments ( Mr. Congeniality) and complete all concepts in a single playthrough if you want to see a single island mode ending. Since you cannot actually get a character ending in island mode on your first playthrough, It is recommended that you spend your first island mode playthrough getting all hope fragments and gathering enough materials to make Cheat Sheets and Cleaning Maestros. Don't worry about building anything for Usami as your characters will be too low leveled to complete most tasks. Spend your second playthrough cleaning up any hope fragments and trying to build all concepts to earn island mode endings for this trophy.
Island mode is an extra mode that is unlocked after completing the game for the first time. This mode works very differently from the base game. In island mode: no killings take place. Instead, you are assigned to complete tasks over the course of 50 days that involves constructing models for Usami to keeping the island cleaned up. Most of the basics of this mode are explained when you first start it. Keeping a second save file is also recommended so you can back up to it in case you mess up.
Over the 50 days of island mode, you can build relationships during free time using trip tickets with other characters. You can earn an ending as soon as you have maxed out your relationship with them. Just talk to Usami to see the progress of your relationships. Usami tracks your relationships by amount of hearts (You need 10 for an ending). The amount of hearts you earn varies between +0.25, +0.5 and +1 hearts. There are a total of 15 different endings for island mode (one for each character excluding Hajime). When your relationship is maxed out, you talk to them on day 51 and they'll give you a present of their favorite undergarments. With good timing and good luck, You can earn up to 5 island mode endings in one playthrough.
Relationships can also be raised through a random occurring event known as Shot Through the Heart. This event will not occur with characters missing any hope fragments. Since you need them to earn island mode endings in the first place, It's important to get that done. In Shot Through the Heart, Hajime tries to read the inner thoughts of his classmates and can agree (affirmation) or disagree (negation) with their thoughts. It works similar to class trials where you shoot a statement with one of your truth bullets, but there are some things to be noted about it:

- Take your time. It's unlimited.
- It occurs randomly when you use a trip ticket.
- It's always the same.
- There are no right or wrong answers. Anything goes here. There are better answers that help your relationship with the character grow faster.
