The EU banned poultry imports from Ukraine because of an outbreak of avian flu, as reported by various sources. Through October, Ukrainian poultry exports to the EU were up 20 percent, year over year.

Ukrainian agro giant Kernel plans to build a new Black Sea export terminal with a capacity of 4 million tons per year, news agency Latifundist reported Tuesday, citing the head of Kernel's board of directors.

The State Property Fund once again pulled the plug on privatization of the Odessa portside plant after receiving no applications, multiple news outlets reported. Prior news reports mentioned interest by an American company and a Dubai-based company. News of the decision to delay privatization came after Alexander Yarovslavky's DSN Group announced that it would not participate in the tender.

Turkish budget airline Pegasus began service between Ankara and Kyiv Zhulyani International Airport. Meanwhile, Ukrainian airline Tsentravia lost its authorization to carry passengers.

Lifecell signed a deal with Chinese company Huawei and Sweden's Ericsson to bring 5G wireless to Ukraine, multiple sources reported. Lifecell chief Burak Ersoi pointed to a new 5G rollout in Austin, Texas. «This market is going to be in the trillions of dollars, and Ukraine should be a part of this industry» he said.

Ukraine posted a 1.7 percent rise in coal production in the January-November period, according to Interfax Ukraine.

Ukrainian television channels will begin charging fees starting Jan. 1, when a new law takes effect, multiple sources reported.

Ukrposhta seeks to invest $500 million over four years to develop various aspects of the state-owned business, Interfax Ukraine reported. General Director Ihor Smeliansky said key areas targeted for investment are the vehicle fleet, IT and sorting centers.

Two Kiev natives who were dismayed by the tendency of online comments to degrade into tirades are taking action, according to a story on ain.ua. They created a website called Widebate, where people can calmly discuss contested topics. A company founder said «We want to clean up all the flame war crap on the internet.»

The European Commission plans to help Ukraine modernize its customs and tax services, according to Ukrinform. The announcement comes on the heels of Prime Minister Volodomyr Groysman's warning that the two agencies and the government as a whole should work for the good of business.

Kenya wants to involve Ukrainian companies in energy infrastructure projects, according to Ukrinform. A Kenyan trade mission expressed interest in Ukraine's ability to help with an array of green energy developments.
