Antonov makes a playful bid for the new US Air Force One which goes viral, Ukrenergo is set to attract $1.5 billion in investment, and a Turkish firm has contracted with Lviv's government to create a wind power station.

Kyiv wants to spend $872 million to modernize its land transportation network, Interfax Ukraine reported. Bike paths feature prominently in the plans, a city with a high number of parks.

Antonov seized on U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's tweeted message that he would cancel an order for a «$4 billion» Boeing-made Air Force One. Antonov suggested that Trump consider having the Ukrainian firm build the American presidential plane. Made in jest, the offer drew worldwide publicity to Ukraine's aircraft manufacturer.

The European Court of Auditors said in a report that Ukraine has produced skimpy results in its fight against corruption. The country's inability to curb corrupting influence of oligarchs means that additional foreign assistance «is in serious jeopardy», multiple sources reported.

Ukrenergo, the national power provider, is to attract about $1.5 billion in investment aimed at fully automating power systems and modernizing its existing substations, Ukrinform reported. The full package would speed the country's adaptation to the European Network of Transmission System Operators, by 2024.

Ukrainians on average spend half their salaries on housing, various sources reported, citing figures from the Ministry of Social Policy. About one third of the population, 6.5 million households, receive subsidies for utilities and other necessities. With higher gas rates this winter, this number could rise to 8.5 million.

Atlas Global Energy, a Turkish firm, has contracted with the Lviv regional government to build a wind power station in the Skolivsky district, Ukrinform reported. The total investment will be about $20 million.

A Ukrainian startup called Polyteda Cloud was among the winners of funding from the European Commission's Horizon 2020 SME, which supports innovation projects of small and midsize businesses. Polyteda Cloud will receive $1.2 million for a two-year project and plans to commercialize the results in the European market.

Ukraine created a national organization to promote tourism, Interfax Ukraine reported. The National Tourism Organization is designed to unite smaller-scale tourism initiatives and develop «the tourist brand of Ukraine in domestic and global markets» said Economic Development and Trade Ministry official Ivan Lyptuha.

Deputies in the Rada want to exempt electric cars from import duties, Novoe Vremya reported.

The latest failure to privatize the Odessa portside plant is causing acrimony in the government. Prime Minister Volodomyr Groysman publicly called for the leadership of the State Property Fund to be fired, leading the head of the agency, Ihor Bilous, to answer criticism.
