• Total net income of Ukroboronprom companies increased by 31.2% last year compared to 2015, to $1.05 billion, the press service of the state arms maker has told Interfax-Ukraine.

• Since the start of the 2016/2017 marketing year (July through June), Ukraine has exported 35.029 million tons of grain. According to the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food, the country exported 15 million tons of wheat, 5 million tons of barley, and 15 million tons of corn.

•Nestle, a large food producer, invested $14.9 million in production facilities in Ukraine last year, Nestle Director for Ukraine and Moldova Ansgar Bornemann said at a press conference, Interfax-Ukraine reported. Bornemann said this investment figure was greater than in 2015.

• Ukraine could lose energy sector funding from China worth up to $3.65 billion because of squabbles between ministries and Naftogaz have held up project proposals, Reuters reported. Ukraine signed the loan agreement with the China Development Bank (CDB) in 2012. It must submit proposals for projects by June to receive funding.

• The CEO of Kyivmetrobud signed a subcontractor agreement worth $147 million with Turkey's Limak Insaat Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S. to complete subway construction in Dnipro. Last week, Turkey's Limak won the tender, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

• Ukraine and the U.S. plan to discuss deepening space sector cooperation at a June meeting of a bilateral working group on cooperation in research and use of outer space for peaceful purposes, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

• The deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in goods shrank by 44.5% at the start of this year.. The deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in commodities was estimated at US$423.2 million in January-February 2017, down from a $756.1 million deficit year-over-year (y-o-y), according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Service's website.

• Ukraine has increased electricity exports by 16.6% in January-March 2017 (191.8 million kW-h) compared to the same period in 2016. During the first quarter, exports hit 1 billion 349.4 million kW-h, Interfax-Ukraine reported.

• Ukraine is to increase steel output to 1.8 million tons in May, from an expected 1.7 million tons in April, news agency Uaprom reported.

• Yulia Kovaliv, a key reformer at Ukraine's Naftogaz, announced her resignation from the state-run firm's supervisory board. This came amid concerns, voiced by EBRD and others, that reforms to the country's graft-ridden energy sector could be reversed. In a statement, Kovaliv, an independent board member, did not offer a clear reason for her decision.
