It is always a pleasure to read Sham Lal because he is an erudite thinker who possesses a mind which retains its freedom even in its encounters with the most brilliant minds of our time.
The mechanical way in which the protagonist of the book feels at home with her Indian identity and all that it promises, is too synthetic and weakens the plot.
