New syllabus PU classes from June 1

The advancement is to help students and teachers get to know the new framework of the syllabus better.
 
The first year Pre-University (PU) classes in the State will commence from June 1 this academic year.

The PU department has advanced the commencement of I year PU classes by two weeks this year to help students and teachers acquaint themselves with the new framework of the syllabus, which includes workbooks for languages and project work for core-subjects, PU Director D N Nayak said.

He said all colleges should adhere to the calendar of events for I PU admissions as notified by the PU Department. According to this notification, PU colleges will have to announce the first list of selected candidates on May 16.

Mr Nayak said all colleges will have to reserve five per cent of seats for ICSE and CBSE students who would like to switch over to the PU stream. “We have directed all colleges to reserve seats for ICSE and CBSE students as their results are yet to be announced. These students can secure admissions to PU as soon as they obtain their results,” Mr Nayak said.

Last year, as many as 4,000 ICSE/CBSE students switched over to PU stream in the State. New textbooks will be introduced for II year PU students from this year.

PU re-exam in July

The Pre-university department this year will be conducting advanced II PU supplementary examination during the first week of July for the benefit of repeaters.

The last date for payment of fees without fine is May 31. The fees can also be paid up toJune 6 with a fine of Rs 120.
