Vocational training in Aviation Catering
Cateringpor combines quality meals with highly professional staff,
supported by permanent training, enabling it to respond to new
requirements which world operators in aviation catering are constantly
faced with.
The company provides seven distinct basic training programmes, according to its core fields of expertise:
1) Health and Food Safety for
food processing staff, department supervisors and storage staff. This
training course is aimed at raising staff awareness of the number of
specific variables of Aviation Catering, strict compliance with
domestic and international health and food safety best practices, and
the correct use of cleaning products. The programme also includes
compliance with internal standards and regulations, as well as with the
HACCP system (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point), which the
company adopted, as recommended by international bodies, such as the
World Health Organisation, for all companies operating in the food
sector.
2) Airport Security
provides training for staff operating inside the restricted areas of
the of Lisbon Airport platform. Staff receives training in people and
goods safety inside airport premises, in identifying threats like
terrorism, and they are advised to adopt specific surveillance and
warning behaviours.
3) Ramp Safety is a
training programme for all staff operating within the ramp perimeter of
the airport, such as drivers, assistants, managers and supervisors. The
course focuses on the development of appropriate conduct in the airport
ramp area, as far as vehicle flows, operations close to aircrafts,
approaching aircrafts, catering supply, and standard compliance is
concerned.
4) Storage Staff Training
is for warehouse supervisors and staff, and covers stock management,
freight and equipment flows, circuit design, hazardous goods handling
and goods reception procedures.
5) Training Programme for Department Supervisors
involves learning best practices in team management, leadership,
conflict management, team work incentives and stress management.
6) IT enables the development of computer skills in Outlook, advanced Excel, advanced Word, ACCESS and Power Point.
7) Work hazard prevention and personal protection equipment use
focuses on identifying risks and preventing hazards. This is also one
of the modules of Cateringpor’s basic training programme. It targets
operational and production department staff. Besides the basic training
it provides, Cateringpor also values life-long learning, which is why
it promotes frequent and timely in-house training actions, while
ensuring close customer follow-up and satisfaction.
