He doesn’t have any intention of becoming an actor. ‘But the day I make it into films, I want to be the Numero Uno there too,’ the hottest Indian male model Upen Patel tells AVINASH KALLA.

He is oh-so sexy, very Mediterranean and with a gorgeous body. There isn’t an iota of doubt in my mind that the women who have watched London-bred model Upen Patel setting the ramp on fire would have fallen in love with him.
This 24-year old hunk is not all about a tall strapping frame complimented with looks to kill. Ask him what makes him stand apart from the crowd and he shoots off one word reply ‘Attitude’.
In news for being the busiest model in circuit these days apart being visible at the billboards, ramp, small screen ads, he is also seen in the recent Sanober Kabir music video. Upen describes his state of mind as ‘ecstatic’. “I am enjoying every moment of it. Being recognised as a supermodel is a great feel and featuring in music videos is great. You get paid well for having fun,” tells Upen.
Ask him about limiting himself at the boob tube and keeping a distance from the celluloid charm and he winks with a smile. “I believe in doing quality work and not quantity. I have tried my hands at small screen and hosted a show, but at the moment I am concentrating only on my modelling career. Alongside some music videos are fine but I don’t have any serious plans of joining the bandwagon,” says Upen earlier featured in Bindiya Chamkegi - a Bally Sagoo music video.
All you foodies must be aware that sometime back in the recent past he along with Malaika Arora Khan hosted cookery show Cook Na Kaho on Star One. A self confessed foodie who relishes any chicken preparation, Upen did the show just for fun.
That apart he is enjoying being at the peak of male modelling circuit. He currently is the face of twenty-one designers in India and promoters are queuing at his doorsteps to make him sign on the dotted line. “I am selective in picking up the campaigns as well. I want to be associated with the best in the business,” says Upen who was recently signed by gym chain Zafs Fitness Centre, as Brand ambassador along with Bollywood starlet Celina Jaitely.
Quiz him about his Bollywood debut and he puts an end to the speculation saying he is not game for silver screen at the moment. “I want to be the Numero Uno in whatever I do. I have reached that stage in modelling and in no mood to plunge into untested waters at this time in my career. But the day I make it into films I’ll make sure that there too I am at the top.”
