Aircraft Interior Applications

The world's leading aircraft manufacturers specify Boltaron fire-rated sheet for thermoformed, fabricated and machined interior components

The world's leading commercial, military and private aircraft and helicopter manufacturers — including Airbus, Bell, Boeing, Lockheed and Sikorsky — as well as the world's leading interior refurbishing contractors, specify Boltaron's aircraft-rated PVC alloy sheet products for thermoformed and fabricated interior components.

Boltaron's aircraft rated, PVC/Acrylic sheet products meet FAA requirements for flame, heat release and smoke generation. They offer unequalled impact resistance and extreme formability, and are available in gauges from .018 to 3.0 in. (.046 to 76.2 mm), 10 surface textures and unlimited colors, including FAR 25.853 (a) and (d) rated metallics with integral coloration, providing unmatched brilliance and scratch resistance.

Typical applications include:

  • Class dividers
  • Dashboard enclosures
  • Galley components
  • Lavatory components
  • Bull noses
  • Video screen bezels
  • Personal service units (PSUs)
  • Gap covers
  • Seat parts
  • Sidewall panels
  • Tray tables
  • Window shades
  • Air ducts
  • Bulkhead laminates
  • Light housings
  • Window reveals
  • Moldings

  • No other film and sheet manufacturer offers aircraft manufacturers and interior renovation contractors the range of sheet properties, thicknesses, textures and colors offered by Boltaron:

    FEATURES BENEFITS
Wide range of PVC/Acrylic alloys with FAR 25.853 (a) and (d) fire certifications Satisfies a wide range of performance and cost requirements while with meeting or exceeding aircraft fire standards for low smoke and low heat release. General aircraft grades and application-specific aircraft grades satisfy the most diverse and demanding aircraft interior requirements.
Matching calendered, extruded and press laminated grades and composite sheet products in gauges from .003 to 3.0 in. (.076 to 76.2 mm) Thin (primarily calendered) gauges allow weight and cost savings, as well as fusing with companion products for unprecedented performance in specialized applications. Medium (primarily extruded) gauges satisfy a wide range of forming and fabrication requirements. Heavy (primarily press laminated) gauges allow machining of thick parts identical in color, texture and properties to thin- and medium-gauge thermoformed and fabricated parts of the same Boltaron grade.
FAR 25.853 (d) rated metallics with integral color, providing unmatched brilliance and scratch resistance Unlike FAR 25.853 (d) rated sheet that is reverse-printed with metallic ink on clear cap film laminated to dissimilar substrate material, Boltaron 9815M is comprised of a cap film with integral metallic coloration, permanently fused to a matching "9815-grade" substrate of a complementary solid color, preventing de-lamination and offering unsurpassed scratch resistance. Since the 9815M monolithic cap film is a "metallized" version of Boltaron's 9815 solid color substrate, metallic color selection is unlimited.
Unlimited colors (including solids, translucents and metallics) with low minimums Unlimited custom colors with low minimums, no premiums and fast turnaround eliminates compromises associated with limited selections of standard colors, increasing customer satisfaction. Lot-to-lot color consistency allows undetectable field replacements.
16 Standard surface textures, and custom textures with low minimums An exceptionally large number of standard textures, and virtually unheard of custom texture availability with low minimums, enable thermoformers and fabricators to satisfy the requirements of the most demanding specifiers, and in many cases to upgrade the part specification.
Greater impact resistance to than competitive FAR 25.853 (d) rated PVC/Acrylic sheet No longer must aircraft specifiers sacrifice impact resistance to meet FAR 25.853 (d) fire ratings. Boltaron 9815 sheet offers impact resistance of 2 to 5 ft-lbs/in (106 to 265 J/m) — greater than competitive 6565-compliant FAR 25.853 (d) PVC/Acrylic sheet products with impact resistance of only 1 to 3 ft-lbs/in (53 to 159 J/m).
Extreme formability with uniform wall thickness Among the greatest benefits of Boltaron aircraft-rated sheet to aircraft interior contractors is its extreme thermoformability, which allows the sheet to draw readily to the mold, even parts with deep recesses and sharp outside corners, maintaining uniform wall thicknesses.
Extreme chemical resistance Boltaron's PVC and PVC/Acrylic alloys are among the most chemical resistant of all plastics, allowing grime and graffiti to be removed repeatedly using concentrated chemicals, with no adverse effects.
