Education, Training & Experience Eligibility for initial Qualifications - NDT Training Level I, II Certification Courses
Recommended Eligibility, Qualification and experience requirements as per written practice framed to the requirements of recommended practice, SNT-TC-1A – 2016 are given below.
Non-destructive testing courses are considered as the most valuable professional courses to improve individuals’ skill sets and preferred for steep career growth in Quality Control QA QC functions in manufacturing and processing industries. These courses are especially considered as short term professional courses for any Mechanical Engineers, Metallurgical Engineers, civil engineers, electrical engineering and other engineering professionals. Based on proficiency requirements, certification is offered for NDT Level I, Level I limited, NDT Level II and NDT Level III. In order to be eligible for each NDT level, the individual should meet the required eligible criteria.
Candidates for certification in Non-destructive testing NDT should have sufficient education, training and experience to ensure qualification in those NDT methods in which they are being considered for certification. Candidates with Diploma in Engineering or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (mechanical engineering, metallurgy, civil or any engineering) or Bachelor’s degree in Maths, Science or Plus 2 / intermediate with Maths, science can be eligible for the courses. Depending on NDT Level chosen, method selected, Candidates with other educational qualifications also are eligible provided if they can meet the following recommended criteria.

Important Notes :
- A candidate may be qualified directly to Level 2 with no time as Level I, the training and experience requirements consists of the sum of the hours for Level I and II as specified above.
- While fulfilling total experience requirement, experience may be gained in more than one NDT method, however the minimum hours must be met for each method to be eligible for the courses.
In addition, the candidate must meet the following other eligibility as per the written practice.
Near-Vision Acuity
Color Contrast Differentiation
The examination should ensure natural or corrected near-distance acuity in at least one eye such that the applicant is capable of reading a minimum of Jaeger Number 2 or equivalent type and size letter at the distance designated on the chart but not less than 12 inches (30.5 cm) on a standard Jaeger test chart. The ability to perceive an Ortho-Rater minimum of 8 or similar test pattern is also acceptable. This should be administered annually through out his/her certification duration.

Color Contrast Differentiation
The examination should demonstrate the capability of distinguishing and differentiating contrast among colors such as Ishihara Charts or shades of gray used in the method as determined by the employer. This should be conducted upon initial certification and at five-year intervals thereafter.
